OUR ACADEMIC PRINCIPLES
At Lumiere, we believe talent is best paired with rigor and passion. Because of this, we have certain expectations from the members of our academic community.
You need to have big-picture curiosity and a strong academic record.

Innovation starts with a question. We are looking for scholars who show engagement with the world around them, through their projects, coursework, and extracurriculars.
You need to have the ability to work independently.

The mentor serves as a guide for your research, much like a thesis advisor or a supervisor. Outside the sessions with them you are expected to put in 5-10 hours of work into your project every week. This requires self-discipline and a commitment to producing a high-quality final paper.
You do not need to know everything about your field or topic before you start doing research.

We are a community of learners, and we completely understand you not having a well-founded background in your areas of interest - in fact, a research program like our is the perfect place for you to begin exploring something you haven't before!
