Cost/Stipend: No cost; Interns are paid a competitive wage between $20 - $25 an hour plus clothing, transportation stipends, and meals.

Eligibility: Rising high school juniors and seniors who live in commutable proximity to the KPMG local office can apply.


The KPMG Empower High School Experience is a three-week paid internship that will introduce high school students from diverse backgrounds to careers in public accounting and professional services. This internship is a key part of KPMG U.S.’s Accelerate 2025 strategy. It aims to increase the Black and Latinx representation in accounting majors and the number of accounting professionals overall. Nearly 200 high school juniors and seniors participate in the KPMG Empower High School Experience across 11 markets in the US. Each market cohort consists of approximately 18-20 students.


During the program, you will get to work in teams, develop problem-solving skills, and enhance your critical thinking abilities. This experience will serve as a solid opportunity for you to build a strong foundation for your future careers in the finance and accounting industry. Nearly 500 firm professionals serve as coaches, mentors, content developers, facilitators, and volunteers for the program. You’ll get to engage in interactive workshops, collaborate on real-world case studies, and interact with KPMG professionals. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to attend guest lectures and workshops led by industry experts, further enriching your understanding of the field. 


Location: UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX

Cost/Stipend: None

Application Deadline: Applications typically close in November of the previous year.

Dates: The program typically takes place during 3 Saturdays in January. The 2024 program took place on January 6, 13, and 20.

Eligibility: High school students in grades 10–12 can apply.


The Office of Student Empowerment and Engagement at the UT Southwestern Medical Center hosts the Health Professions Recruitment and Exposure Program annually for high school students across the DFW Metroplex. HPREP is an enrichment program that exposes high school students to medicine and science through a variety of workshops and hands-on activities. During the program, you will get to participate in a college fair and mentoring group, with students from the UT Southwestern Medical School, School of Health Professions, School of Public Health, and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences serving as mentors.


You will gain first-hand experience by participating in workshops on topics such as CPR, cow eye dissection, DNA extraction, prosthetics and orthotics, suturing, colorimetric assays, infectious diseases, and more. You will also get to learn about a wide variety of health careers and job responsibilities including physical medicine and rehabilitation.


Location: Dallas, TX

Cost/Stipend: No cost. Participants can expect a stipend at a minimum of $10 per hour, with potential opportunities for higher compensation.

Dates: The program spans 8 weeks during the summer but dates vary depending on the opportunity; the exact dates for 2025 will be announced soon. The 2024 program took place from June 1 to August 13.

Application Deadline: Applications typically close in May. 

Eligibility: High school students in grades 9–12 residing in Dallas can apply.


Dallas Works Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program is an eight-week, paid summer internship program that introduces Dallas public high school students to diverse careers and valuable workplace skills to enhance economic development and educational opportunities in Dallas. This program places interns with organizations based on individual-level requirements. Level 1 is for individuals who are 16-24 years old and who already work in Dallas and will continue to work at that same job during the summer months, Level 2 is for any individuals looking for a summer job, and Level 3 is the leadership development summer internship. Each employer is asked to provide an eight-week summer job or internship for each student, so the internship dates will be flexible based on the company's needs.


Dallas Works has successfully placed over 1,200 youth in paid positions across the city. This program will help you to explore potential career paths, acquire essential skills, and earn valuable workplace experience.


Location: Remote! You can work from anywhere in the world.

Cost: Starts at $2,490. Financial aid is available.

Dates: 8-week programs with multiple cohorts throughout the year, including spring, summer, fall, and winter. The upcoming fall cohort begins on September 16, 2024.

Application Deadline: Deadlines vary depending on the cohort. The upcoming fall cohort deadline is August 4, 2024.

Eligibility: Students who can work for 10-20 hours/week, for 8-12 weeks can apply. Open to high school students, undergraduates, and gap year students!


Ladder Internships, a fairly selective program founded by Harvard alumni, pairs high school students with startups and nonprofits around the world for virtual internships. You can choose the field you wish to work in, from a wide range of industries, including technology, machine learning, AI, computer science, finance, environmental science, sustainability, business, marketing, healthcare, medicine, media, journalism, and more. 


As an intern, you will work on meaningful projects that contribute to the startup or nonprofit’s larger mission, and present your work at the end of the program. This internship program includes one-on-one training in communication and time management, among other skills, and group training sessions with fellow interns. You will be paired with a manager at the startup and with a Ladder coach, who serves as a second mentor. The internship opportunities in this program span the globe, with a concentration in the U.S., Asia, Europe, and the UK. You can explore all the options here on their application form.



Location: Parkland Health and Hospital System, Dallas, TX

Cost/Stipend: No cost; Participants receive a stipend based on their qualifications and responsibilities.

Dates: 8 weeks during the summer. Dates TBA for 2025.

Application Deadline: Applications typically close in March. Applications will open in December 2024 for the 2025 program.

Eligibility: High school students at least 16 years old, residing in the DFW area and attending a public high school, with a minimum 3.25 GPA, can apply.


The Dallas Works program, hosted by Parkland Health and Hospital System, offers an eight-week, paid summer internship opportunity tailored for motivated high school juniors and seniors. This program provides a hands-on introduction to various careers within healthcare, emphasizing both practical experience and professional development. 


As an intern at Parkland, you'll immerse yourself in real-world healthcare environments, working alongside professionals in designated departments, and gain valuable insights and skills that will prepare you for future opportunities in healthcare or related fields. You will be expected to work 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. You will not be permitted to work overtime. Limited shadowing/observation opportunities are also available during the program. You will gain firsthand experience working in a healthcare institution and get to explore various healthcare careers.


Location: Dallas, TX

Cost/Stipend: No cost. Students are provided with a stipend upon completion of the internship.

Dates: October 1–December 13, 2024

Application Deadline: August 26, 2024 

Eligibility: Students at least 16 years old with preferred high school graduation dates between 2023–2026. This program is only open to current residents of a Dominium-owned property.


Dominium’s Resident Internships offer high school students living in their properties the chance to be mentored by local community and maintenance managers. As a resident intern, you will work alongside Dominium employees, with the guidance of a mentor, to complete assigned tasks from the different areas of property management. You will have an opportunity to earn a variety of personal and professional development skills and gain exposure to many aspects of the property management industry. 


Throughout the internship, you will get to develop essential skills in office administration, maintenance coordination, and customer service, all while completing a Capstone Project that showcases your learning and impact. This paid internship not only provides practical work experience but also offers a chance to bolster college resumes and opens doors to future career opportunities in property management and beyond.

Eligibility: High school students part of the Frisco Independent School District, covering portions of Denton and Collin counties, including portions of Frisco, Little Elm, Plano, and McKinney can apply.


The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), in partnership with Frisco Independent School District (ISD), presents an opportunity for high school students from the Frisco, Texas area, ranging from sophomores to seniors aged 15-18, to experience a month-long immersion at NBCF.


During the program, you will immerse yourself in the non-profit culture at NBCF, gaining insights into how various departments collaborate to support the foundation’s mission. Your initial two weeks will be spent in Programs, Development, and Marketing, where you will learn about the day-to-day operations of NBCF. Weekly sessions will be conducted on essential topics such as resume preparation, interview skills, public speaking, and other important professional topics relevant to working in any environment. The last three weeks of the internship will be spent working on a group project that will be presented to senior staff.


The National Breast Cancer Foundation also offers junior and senior high school students volunteer positions in their High School Ambassador Program to increase awareness of NBCF’s mission.

Dates: The internship takes place over 4 weeks (full-time) or 8 weeks (part-time) in June and July. 

Eligibility: High school juniors in Independent School Districts in Dallas are eligible 


The Summer Law Intern Program is a joint initiative between the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Independent School District. Once selected, students will be placed with a law firm, a non-profit organization, or in the legal department of a corporate law firm, to work with them for 4-8 weeks. As an intern, your work schedule will be decided by the employer you’re placed with – so you could work full-time (4 weeks) or part-time (8 weeks). 


Interns will also receive a Summer Learning curriculum that briefs them on what’s expected of them. It will also introduce them to the norms in law firms, and all interns are expected to complete it in its entirety. You will also get to participate in educational activities organized by the DBA, and an end-of-program reception. If you’re based in Dallas, this is a solid chance to gain some experience in law

The Memphis Bar Association in Tennessee also hosts a Summer Law Internship Program that you can consider.


Location: 18 different locations are available throughout Texas. Opportunities are available in Dallas.

Cost/Stipend: None

Application Deadline: Varies by year and your chosen location, but plan on applying as early in the calendar year as possible

Dates: This program runs throughout the entire summer.

Eligibility: Applicants must be 16-18 years old and have a valid Social Security number.


Texas Health Resources’ Junior Volunteer Program offers students exposure to world-class healthcare operations so that they can make a difference in their community while learning character and career-building skills. There are several Texas Resources hospitals to choose from, all with slightly different opportunities. Each Texas Health Resources hospital has specific requirements for its Junior Volunteer program. You’ll learn a lot about operations and spend most of your time on clerical work. 

 

Texas Health Resources also offers a highly competitive Student Service Learning Program at its Dallas location. During this program, you will be required to complete 128 volunteer hours, working 16 hours per week over 10 weeks. This opportunity is volunteer, but more highly specialized and allows for greater exposure to medical work. You can learn more about it here!


Location: There are AEOP locations in almost every state. Opportunities are also available in Dallas, TX. Students may select their preferred location. The program is intended for commuters and transportation, meals, and housing are not provided.

Cost/Stipend: No cost; Stipend is provided but varies from location to location.Application Deadline: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Check AEOP’s Summer 2024 opportunities here for the application dates.

Dates: This is a summer internship program, and specific dates vary from location to location.

Eligibility: Those applying must be current high school students who are U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents. Additional eligibility requirements vary by location. Check details here.


This program is a chance to work one-on-one with a university researcher or Department of Defense (DoD) scientist mentor on research projects. As an intern, you will be exposed to high-tech equipment and cutting-edge techniques in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, and have access to professional scientists and engineers. Additionally, you will learn from other STEM practitioners during the internship. The Army-sponsored research that you will be a part of addresses the USA’s biggest challenges. The program aims to hone critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills to prepare you for a career in STEM.
